Abstract:
As an emerging area of scientific endeavour, non-photorealistic animation and rendering (NPAR) can potentially take its place in a computer science curriculum. The area offers students the opportunity to use, combine, and exploit many of the fundamental concepts of computer science and mathematics. Furthermore, the area is developing a repertoire of methods and tools in its own right which are of considerable interest in research and development. However, to date there is no textbook to follow, and it is as yet unclear what the methods are which bind together the area. Hence this panel discussion will focus on work in progress on the structure and content of a course on NPAR at the senior undergraduate or beginning graduate level.
