Abstract:
We have been presented algorithms for pastel-like rendering that focus on making more realistic pastel drawing-like strokes previously [Murakami 2002], with attractive "still" images obtained by rendering a 3D model. In this sketch, an improvement to this method suitable for animation is presented. We studied a technique to effectively apply pastel strokes to an object, so that a user will be able to select this method as a mode of expression.
To achieve this, the connection between surface polygons in an object consisting of quadrilateral faces is examined. When we look at a real object, we break down the object into planes, and the planes into rectangles. Then when drawing an object, we draw strokes following the direction of the rectangle surface meshes.
