Abstract:
This thesis presents a method for turning an image, such as a black and white photograph, into a set of simple strokes which can be drawn at any resolution. First is a brief survey of existing work in the field of non-photorealistic rendering. Next is an introduction to some standard image processing techniques, followed by a basic introduction to piecewise cubic curves. Finally, I explain how to assemble pixels into B-Splines and present a method for simplifying the curves which make up the strokes.
