Abstract:
Oriental black-ink painting uses "soft" brushes having bristles that respond elastically to the force exerted by an artist against the paper. Successfully modeling these soft-brush characteristics permits an artist to effectively use a computer to simulate oriental black ink painting. Further enhancements to the program simulate the absorbencies of different papers an artist might choose to create a black-ink painting, including the varying degrees of diffusion of the ink on the paper.
